The U Short Film Festival

Calling all prospective filmmakers! We are seeking short film, video, animation and new media submission for The U Film Festival. All current UMSL students are eligible. Selected works will be screened on UMSL North Campus on April 20, 2017.

2017 The U Radio Film Festival

    Deadline: entries must be submitted by Monday, April 10, 2017 at 11:59pm.

    Acceptable submission formats include: Google Drive, or on DVD.

    For submitting on DVD:
    Please verify that your DVD plays on all systems.
    Please CLEARLY LABEL your entry with your name, your email address, the title of the work, and the total running time.

    To submit a DVD entry, you must mark this in the submission form and then email TheUFilmFestival@umslradio.com to coordinate this (please do this concurrently with your submission form). We can easily arrange for you to either drop off your work at the SEMPA/The U Office located in the Millienium Student Center on the 2nd Floor in Room 240.

    If for whatever reason you cannot submit your work on Vimeo, Google Drive, or DVD, or you have other inquiries, please contact the film festival coordinator at TheUFilmFestival@umslradio.com as soon as possible and prior to the submission deadline.

    Film/Video Length: The recommended lenght is 6-8 minutes. The festival is not able to screen works longer than 10 minutes. However, you may submit an excerpt from a longer work as long as that excerpt is 10 minutes or under.

    Mature Content: Films with mature content, must include a small disclaimer at the beginning of the film similar to: Contains pervasive crude and sexual content, strong language, and drinking

    Jury Selection: A jury composed of students and professors from all Five Colleges will view each of the submissions, and carefully select films which are found to be outstanding, innovative, and/or valuable to this year’s festival.

    Student Work: Submissions can only be made by students currently enrolled at University of Missouri - St. Louis. Submission must be made by person(s) with some role of primary creative control on the project. This does not mean you must be “the director;” primary creative contribution can take various other forms. You will simply be asked in the submission form to list your involvement and credits. Work from graduated seniors is acceptable if it was produced during enrollment (email TheUFilmFestival@umslradio.com if in doubt).

    Please click the circle next to "I agree" to indicate that you agree to the festival rules and to the release of your work for use on the The U: UMSLRadio website, Student Electronic Media Professionals' Association (SEMPA) and The U promotional materials, in a compilation DVD for the The U archives, broadcast permission on The U TV Channel and YouTube.
